Sometimes things don't turn out the way you've planned, no matter how much preparation you've put into those plans. 

It has been said that while the elite team of Navy Seals that went in to the compound in Pakistan to capture Osama Bin Laden practiced and drilled for weeks on the same operation before executing it. However, seconds into the actual operation, the entire plan was thrown off course by a chopper crashing. 

The crew of the Apollo 13 spacecraft in 1971 spent 6 months every day going over procedures, protocols, and getting every thing they had to do just right, only to be stopped by a small copper coil that exploded and caused the astronauts to be in severe danger, as well as having to adapt and overcome several situations in order to travel the 240,000 miles back to Earth. 

As Christians, it is up to use to develop a consistent and persistent faith, so no matter what happens to us, no matter what plans and hopes are dashed, that we can always bounce back and be the optimistic people that God wants us to be. 

We should all be aware of the story of David defeating Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. David was able to FACE THE SITUATION WITH COURAGE AND CONFIDENCE, AND PLACE HIS LIFE COMPLETELY IN THE HANDS OF THE LORD GOD.

How many times in our lives can we say that we've done the same thing David does here? How many times can we say that we have placed our lives and trust completely in God? 

I tend to have a horrible attitude about challenges when they arise. And then I remember what was drilled into me in the Marine Corps: "Adapt and overcome." Identify you obstacle, develop a plan to get over that obstacle, and overcome it. 

David was able to adapt and overcome. He was a shepherd boy at the time, and he used his skills with a sling to slay a 9 1/2 foot tall giant and save his people from probably decades or centuries of enslavement. And even facing this giant obstacle, he was able to trust God. 

Today, do you have trust in God? Do you truly believe that he will deliver you over all obstacles, no matter what they may be? Tonight, if you haven't put your full trust in God, you can get back on the right path. Why don't you think about that while we sing this song.
